Practical Approaches to Integrating Human Rights and Climate Change Law and Policy

Climate change is already interfering with the rights of people and vulnerable communities and may be considered a threat to human rights everywhere. This document, produced by the Centre for International Environmental Law (CIEL) discusses the obligations of states under human rights law to protect against harm to human rights caused by climate change, through the taking of effective mitigation and adaptation measures. The paper goes on to describe practical measures to encourage, facilitate and supplement national actions necessary to protect and respect human rights within the context of climate change.
