Biodiversity conservation in biofuel production areas

This new article by Robert Fletcher of the University of Florida and the co-authors mentioned in the citation below addresses the unclear effects of increasing biofuel production on biodiversity in the land areas devoted to such crop production. In addition to well documented analysis, this article also provides recommendations for biodiversity-friendly management practices reducing the use of chemicals, delaying harvests until wildlife breeding seasons are over and increasing plant mix in fields. The article is a worthwhile read and a useful reference for persons interested in the environmental impacts of biofuel production.

The article in PDF format is available here (hosted on the ESA online journals website).
