Novel materials for energy applications – A decade of EU-funded research

[tweetmeme http://www.URL.com%5D To address a low-carbon future, Europe has recently placed itself at the forefront of world developments, by shaping and implementing ambitious energy policies. Amongst the comprehensive set of actions that has been launched, materials technologies play a key role in meeting future energy needs by addressing the important issues of durability, efficiency and cost of energy systems. This publication presents the objectives and the main achievements of selected projects in the field of novel materials for energy applications funded under the 5th and 6th Framework Programmes. It highlights medium to long term materials research work to meet challenges in the broad fields of energy production, distribution, conversion and storage.
